In loving memory of Obed (left) and Gloria (above with
mother Dilly) - lovely members
of staff tragically killed in a
road accident last Christmas.

Church - Thank you for praying, for your interest and for all your practical help. You will never know how vital your input is. But I see some of its fruit! First, some are growing and a great encouragement to me in the little church here at Sunrise. We work with our great brother Sadiki and the 'Revelation of the Family of God churches in Africa'. God's family includes all who receive the Lord Jesus so we include them all, whatever colour skin, politics or denomination! Happy, (yes, that's his real name!) has grown and matured so much in church leadership and in the hotel. He's such an encouragement.

David Palmer, leader at King's in Tavistock, came to lead pastors' conference. A very profitable time and great encouragement for me. One pastor stopped me in town saying, "Did you know we had several bishops there? They said, 'We need more of this sound, Bible-based teaching - we pray too much!' "

Health - Our lovely friends, Obed and Gloria left us to be Father's special Christmas present to the Lord Jesus. We miss them so much but also rejoice with them. The survivors from the accident have all recovered well. Dilly still has broken bones to mend but is almost back on top form. I have left her to manage the work. Do pray for her. Insurance payment for the accident drags on. It has cost over £20,000. That would be such a help.

MEDICAL CENTRES
(Above) Chris Nkussi (far right) heads Living Hope Hospital in Kampala slums. Altogether we've helped set up five clinics in the region.

People - It's been a challenging and rewarding time trying to rebuild after the accident. The staff have lived and worked as a happy family so the loss and trauma has been deep. Derek sacrificially came out to replace Obed in the kitchen. But after bouts of malaria and the struggle with cultures he needed to come home. He gave his best shot but working here is tougher than we expect. Happy Williamson has taken over the kitchen with help from the staff. Everyone mucks in! He is progressing excellently. You must come and sample the cooking! The whole staff, led so well by Dilly, make a great effort to provide the best for our visitors.

Finances - We thank God for the friendship and finances from Hugh, Judi, David and friends from Gloucester. They are such an encouragement. The Church at Tavistock faithfully supports month by month. Father will prosper them and others too. Sunrise Hotel is beginning to help but international recession has hit the whole country. I am considering the retail trade to help fund the work. So many die too early for need of financing. Orphans and widows suffer and die unnecessarily. God cares deeply but…?
Prayer - I am so weak and inadequate but with a Father Who is so able. With Him all things are possible. Will you pray for me to believe it, live in His possibilities? I see a country like paradise of lovely people gripped in the bondage of the devil. Money rules, from presidents to peasants, "the love of which is the root of all evil." The white people, Mazungu, are to be used, deceived, and robbed for selfish benefit. Corruption is normal, accepted as the way of life and few resist it. Riches from corruption keep owners in fear, often investing in worthless projects while impoverishing the victims. The suffering is great. Daily they beg from me. Promiscuity and alcohol provide a release from the sadness and suffering only to produce more loss, suffering and loneliness. Behind their smiles lies sadness. Deaths from malaria, HIV and road accidents are frequent. TB and others problems oppress the people. Yet our God is able….! Please pray for these dear people.

Pray for John! - He has been a great inspiration and encouragement to me. A man Jesus has saved while in death row, now commuted to life, soon I believe to be released. A man with remarkable international vision and experience, of a moral and spiritual strength and stature. He is a friend of the king, founded radio for Tooro Kingdom, was prime minister of the kingdom, and a trusted adviser for the king's father. Now he has spent 12 years in prison like Joseph and apostle Paul, being trained to rule by God. Will you join in praying for God's anointing on him, for him to have intercessors to care for him, for faith, vision, for protection from spiritual and human enemies and for great joy in the Lord to strengthen him…please! I believe he is a man God can use to rescue these dear people from Satan's dominion.
