Rwanda 2009 Report
by David Palmer (Dec 2009)

A big thank you to all you Prayer Partners for this trip to Rwanda. Your prayers were answered and the Lord blessed us with good health, energy and wisdom to fulfil his purposes. The family of God churches are growing throughout Rwanda, as people are looking for  the revelation of the Kingdom, in place of traditional religious observance.

The church in Kigali is a model of a Kingdom church in Rwanda. About 70-80 strong, it is learning to live in the freedom and joy of the gospel as the Lord is setting them free from the deep rooted tribal and religious bondages of the past. There is a growing openness, love and forgiveness as they move from the Power of darkness into the Rule of Jesus. This is the “Family of  God” vision which has gripped Bishop Sadiki since he first came to Tavistock twelve years ago.

15 people baptised into Jesus!

What was done:
Foundational training on living 'The Kingdom of Grace' with practical applications to cut through cultural and historical barriers.
Building community relationships, with differences being repented of and resolved.
Training a group of 25 servants of God in biblical understanding of the Kingdom, to enable the work to grow.
A series of national radio programmes broadcast proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
Support for practical training for employment for the poor.

What is still needed:
Bishop Sadiki leads a church of the poor: the next meal is never certain, and to trust God in tithes and offerings is a challenge to their faith, which God is rewarding. In order to provide work in a nation of high unemployment and shortage of skills, Sadiki is already training groups to enable their families to live in some financial stability. But they do need financial support to succeed:

 There are 3 training groups:
1)      Dressmaking: a ladies’ group has already been trained, and now needs a workshop and a professional machine (eg for buttonholes) so that they can offer dressmaking work;
2)      Basket making: another  group of ladies is currently being trained in making good quality bags for sale at home and abroad;
3)      Carpentry and building training : he is ready to set up training for  men who want to skills to  work in the building trade in the country areas.

For each of these groups £70 per month would provide : a) expertise and training; b) practical resources and c) renting workshops.

The people are willing to work, and the aim would be to make these groups eventually self-financing and to lift the poor from the bread line into Kingdom blessings.

The King’s is a registered charity and is committed to helping the poor. If you feel you would wish to  play  a part in even a small amount of regular giving for one of these three projects or give a donation, please contact me at davidandkathy@live.co.uk or phone 01822 612100, and I will arrange for that to be passed on directly to Bishop Sadiki.
