THANK YOU AND UPDATE TO OUR FRONT-LINE FRIENDS

Thank you for your prayers and support. I shall never know how large has been your contribution as you have shared fellowship in this 'Great Lakes Africa Mission'.

Charlie & Theresa - helping get doctor's' and nurses' salaries paid in Africa

A particular and practical answer to my request for the nurses at 'Papa's Medical Centre' to be paid wages came when Charlie and Theresa (right) set up a weekly table top sale Saturdays at the King's, Tavistock. Enough is coming in to pay the nurses and doctors their monthly salaries. A wonderful effort! Come and help them Saturday mornings.

The container of ambulances and supplies was stuck in Kampala for 3 months. This cost extra ground rent, travel and hotels and much frustration for you-know-who! A pastor thought it was for him so he took an ambulance and supplies. Dr and myself prayed and decided to give it to him and encourage an ambulance service. The next morning Joy, my wife, phoned to say we'd been given another ambulance. A wonderful insight into Father's way.

Two nurses at Papa's Medical Centre, Fort Portal

Papa's Medical Centre, Fort Portal is up and away and slowly gaining popularity. We cannot advertise so do pray for it to soon become self-supporting. More supplies await at Tavistock for funding. (Please send all valuables to King's Church!) Several villages ask to work with us. This presents some problems since we do not want authorities to think we are in opposition or supplying terrorists that invade some villages. Hopefully they can be registered as part of Papa's and become official. Some of these will be reported separately so you may like to support them.

Pastors planning a medical centre for the Kampala slums

Pastor Chris Nkussi and pastors from Kampala are working together to set up another Papa's Medical Centre to serve the slum areas of that great city. The name Papa's was chosen because many still think of hospitals as a place to die! Papa's carries the thought of safety and comfort with family. Pray many will find an 'Everlasting Father' there.

To date we, together with you all, have helped establish medical centres at Bukavu in D.R.Congo, Rwebisengo and an X-ray clinic at Fort Portal with Evie Komuntale, and now these centres at Fort Portal and Kampala. Schools have been twinned - one in Kenya, one in Rwanda and two in Uganda - with schools in the UK. We urgently need more schools in UK ready to partner with African schools. It's a rich experience for both. Do contact me with offers!

There's many opportunities for you to participate:

1. Doctors and nurses need food! Financial help until they are self-supporting is vital.
2. Medical centres desperately need lab equipment, microscopes, ultrasound etc.
3. Many children from primary to university are desperate for funding. Can you sponsor?
4. Many schools (esp. Primary) long for friends in schools in UK and USA.
5. Teaching materials, visual aids etc. are greatly appreciated.
6. Your visit to share experience and expertise with clinics and schools is so encouraging.

AND - most of all, your prayers, interest and fellowship are foundational. We are always 'way in over our heads' and having to trust the Lord for direction, resourcing and protection. Thank you! May your reward be a great surprise to you!
