PLEASE PRAY!

Please pray for Marie-Therese Nlandu, a dear friend of ours who is currently unjustly imprisoned in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You can see her in the photo on the left, taken at an African evening at the King's in 2002. She is standing between Joy Bond, wife of pastor Colin, and Norma Woodcock, then Mayor of Tavistock

Marie-Therese stood in the presidential elections in the DRC at the end of last year. In standing against Joseph Kabila, the eventual winner, Marie-Therese earned the disfavour of the government and was imprisoned in November. She has been brought before a military tribunal, which in itself is an ominous sign that the government has already decided on her fate: consigning someone to trial by a military court is often used as a ploy to provide political cover for the government. Six of her associates have also been imprisoned.

Marie-Therese has fallen seriously ill in prison. There are signs that officals may now be considering temporarily releasing her so she can get medical treatment. This is an encouraging development as previous requests to allow her medical attention have been refused.

PLEASE PRAY - for the LORD's justice and righteousness to prevail in this situation; that He provides healing for her illness; and that He gives His peace and protection to her and her family in London.

Thank you for your prayers!
