Summer
2005 trip to Africa
- a thank you letter from Pastor Colin Bond, pastor of
Tavistock Community Church -
Dear
Friends of prayer and support,
Thank you and bless you for all you have done
for us. This Summer 2005 trip was different! - and testing! Difficult
situations had to be faced, desperate poverty helped, wild accusations
refuted, flooded and collapsed church buildings' restoration helped,
tense relationships healed, legal tangles unravelled, no funds except
our private contribution but for one precious anonymous donor who sent
£2,000. We thank God for him! But there was the joy of being with thousands
rejoicing and praising our Lord Jesus in the midst of their poverty
and sadness.
Bishop Sadiki

RWANDA: Rev. Kimberly Wallace,
Rev Stephen Adyeri and friend Eunice accompanied me to Rwanda.
We arrived at the border just in time to be too late! Met a local
pastor who took us a couple of miles into the 'bush' where around
12 saints followed us into the church. As we sang, more arrived
and praised in the solitary oil lamp lighting and about 30 prayed
for salvation at the end.

Bishop Sadiki has been labouring there
in Rwanda all this year missing his wife, Violette and family
but collecting Jean-Claude from Congo and meeting daughter Harriet
and husband Sudali and their new-born twins (see right)! He has
been encouraging pastors as churches grow in numbers and pastors
feel the strain of little income and much work. It was such a
joy to meet up with Pastor David Palmer from Tavistock and share
ministry around Rwanda. The church at Kayonza had collapsed after
a prayer meeting and has now been replaced with 'walls' to accommodate
2,000 and ready for the roof to be fitted. $500 should put the
roof on. Would you like to help?
We left David seeing the Holy Spirit
moving joyfully across the people making his sermon obsolete!
He was also a great inspiration at the meeting for reclaimed street-girls
in Kigali.Sadiki needs his airfare to return home for a while,
about £600.

Bishop Hezron

TANZANIA & BURUNDI:
40 years ago Hezron left Burundi as a refugee to work tirelessly
among refugees in Tanzania. He became good friends with Sadiki and
has founded numerous churches and hundreds of pastors. They are
the 'Calvary Evangelical Assemblies' working with the 'Family of
God Churches'. He is truly a wonderful man of God. His wife is chronically
ill. Your prayers for God's grace and healing are so appreciated.
Now Hezron hears the call to return and start a new work in Burundi.
($450 rents a house and office for 3 months) Churches in Burundi
have suffered many difficulties leaving sheep without shepherds.
Hezron is pleading with me to return next month to help his 300
pastors with leadership, authority, fathering and submission. But
they need feeding and accommodating. They have nothing! 300 x £3
x 4 days = £3,600 What an investment that would be across Tanzania!
Can you join us? Burundi is going to be so blessed too! |
Bishop John Bosco

KENYA: My first call at
end of June was to Bishop Bosco and family at Kayole church, Soweto,
Nairobi. Bosco left a thriving work with several churches in N.
Kenya at Bungoma to pioneer a new work in the dreadful slums of
Soweto. In just a few years the Lord has honoured him with a large
church and care of many others around the country. Rachel, his
wife, works hard as a nurse to support the family so Bosco takes
little resource from the church. His leaders are homeless so their
rent comes from offerings.
It was such a joy to work with him again.
We have great fun preaching together. Barbara from USA donated
money to start a sewing shop for ladies. This was producing gowns
for a wedding when I was there. The church floor gets flooded
(2 ft!) in heavy rains so dear folk are working to raise the church.
Bosco has been to Rwanda and Congo with us as we team together
in support of the ministry in Central Africa. We are planning
to start a clinic for the 50,000 without any medical aid there
in the slums. Already an ambulance is waiting and supplies are
stocking up at Tavistock. Another £6,000 will bring it into being
and prayer for successful passage through beauracracy!
Do pray for Bishop Bosco and his enthusiastic
team as they battle with poverty and sickness to bring people
into the love and provision of our Lord Jesus.

Bishop David Rumama
|
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO:
David Rumama and Jaques Masheka work together in the east Congo
along the shores of Lake Kivu. The whole country seems impoverished
in a dreadful way. The news of the love of Jesus brings hope and
these brothers have seen many new churches start bringing the
pressures of growing leaders, submission, accountability and vision.
(Around 40 churches in two years) Helping all these new works to
walk together in love and unity is challenging. Please do pray for
them as we give thanks for all God has done. The clinic in David's
property was repaired with money donated in April, thank you so
much, the Lord reward you and bless you! Now we have a 40ft
long, 9ft high container waiting at Tavistock for another £6,000
to equip this small hospital to serve a desperate people with little
medical aid. It is truly awe inspiring to see what God can do with
such a small bunch of people that will trust Him and accept (beg?)
the support of wonderful Christians like you! This work in the Congo,
registered as the 'Confederation of Family of God Churches in Congo',
looks to Sadiki for wise leadership, vital in this complex, needy
country. |
Rev. Steve
Adyeri

UGANDA: Pastor Stephen Adyeri
really functions in what Christendom calls a bishop for he oversees
and serves many churches. His work with Pastor Lenny Meyer of
Oregon, USA prospers and blesses many in Uganda. He has proved
such a blessing to us as we have tried to set up a base for the
'Great Lakes Africa Mission' in Fort Portal. He has played a vital
role with police, attorneys, Municipal officials and other pastors as
our attempts to buy a house have been opposed with deceit and
greed. God has over-ruled so all this has resulted in that we
shall probably finish with 2 houses, three plots of land and a
small hotel for Safari holidays to raise funds for the mission.
He lives in one of our houses now.
As I left Uganda Stephen went down in
a vicious attack of malaria. We feared for his survival but now
thank God he is up and well and leading a conference with other
churches from the town about 'Spiritual Warfare'! Rob and Kimberly
Wallace are ministering with him.He has also brought sense and
protection as accusations have been brought against us. It sure
is a battle! But our Captain always leads us in victory!

Thank you for your prayers, for your
interest, for your support, for your gifts of money and a very special
thank you to the hospitals and companies that have donated so many medical
and educational supplies. Thank you Tavistock Community Church, without
your sacrificial giving and prayerful support all this would have been
impossible. Thank you Joy for all the support at home and in Africa.
God bless you and reward you all! "You
shall receive the reward .........for you serve the Lord Christ!"
