There are two reasons for going which are key in all our
work in Africa:-
1. Evangelism is hugely successful in Kenya (as it is in
many other parts of Africa). The number of born-again Christians
in the country is exciting and encouraging, but a changed
lifestyle - to walk each day in the teaching of Jesus - is
another matter.
We are keen to see people saved, and then move on together
into a committed walk with Jesus as Lord that builds one another
up in faith and obedience to Him. We put a lot of time into
teaching how to live as the Lord Jesus told us to.

Bringing
the good news to the poor - at the start of the week
the crusade attracted hundreds of people; on its final
day it drew perhaps four or five thousand.

2. There are opportunities to provide medical, educational
and farming resources for people who live in great need and
poverty. We're in a position to help provide some of these
resources (see the story of our containers to Rwanda here).
However, sending aid over to Africa is hindered by a shortage
of responsible stewards to oversee the storage and distribution
of aid, to limit pilfering and make sure it gets to where
it's needed.
We trust and pray that a focus on discipling as we describe
above will give rise to more and more good stewards, so that
the aid that comes into Africa will be used to build self-sufficiency
rather than dependency.
Why Nairobi in particular for this visit?
In December last year, Pastor Colin Bond went to Nairobi to
help at a conference run by Pastor Peter Davey of Revival
Life Centre in Totnes. During his time there, Colin met Bishop
John Bosco Muchanga, who invited him to speak at a Christian
crusade and conference in the slum area of Soweto on the outskirts
of Nairobi.
