Joe and Dani Meyering with little Selah
Partying in the glory of God
Friends from Seattle come to "mess us up real good"! Ken Joynes, Chris Wright, Gavin Cox and Sophie & Kenny Edwards report...

This weekend (May 17th/18th) we were delighted to have a trio from Seattle come to visit - Joe and Dani Meyering with their seven-month-old daughter Selah. Joe's father is Steve Meyering, a pastor from a church in Seattle who regularly comes to see us and to challenge us into a higher level walk of trust and faith in God (or, as he puts it, to "try and mess us up real good"!).

Only the day before they left for England, Joe had returned from a trip to Honduras, making him even more jetlagged than Dani and Selah. Despite this, Joe and Dani blessed us with two evenings of worship, prophecy, testimony, fun and games - in short, a whole truckload of the joyful encouragement that our friends from Seattle so often bring us. During the Saturday evening meeting, Joe received a phone call from his dad - when Joe told him that he had to give us a prophecy all the way from Seattle, Steve said "The word of the Lord is - 'Let's party!'" (Joe's comment: "That's what you told them last time.") Partying in the Glory of God - 10,000; Religious orthodoxy - nil (retired injured...)

Here's what some others in the church thought of Joe and Dani's time with us.

On Sunday 18th May, Joe and Dani Meyering visited our young people's growth group. Some parents also were there as we had missed the Saturday evening with them.

The evening began with some praise led by new boy Gavin playing guitar. There was a good time and very strong sense of God's presence. Dani (Joe's wife) sang a prophetic song which was discussed at some length. She prophesied that God would give a freedom from tradition, a freedom to worship and praise God in new ways under a new flag - a prophecy that everyone felt was directed especially (but not solely!) to the young people. Dani has a very beautiful singing voice and it was a real blessing to hear her.

Joe had hidden some small envelopes containing £1 coins around the room and got the youngsters looking for them - an exercise to show that we can't necessarily just turn up to a meeting and wait for God to turn up. Sometimes we have to look for Him much like the teenagers looked for those pound coins!

Joe talked about praising God and the sense of His presence that accompanied it. He encouraged us all to cultivate our praise and worship and to learn to play musical instruments to further this. I felt he was a real encouragement to our children, particularly in the area of chasing after God and seeking His presence, and it was great to hear someone close to their age saying it. It was good to see the young people relating so well to a visitor, I felt Joe and Dani were very good for our group.

Joe and Dani lead worship at a visit to Tavistock last year

One weekend in May we had a visit from our American friends Joe and Danni all the way from Seattle U.S.A. Joe and Danni did a talk on Saturday evening and were going to talk on the Sunday evening in the youth growth group. All through Sunday I was dreading a boring talk, like you get," the youth should be leading the way blar blar.." Well we know that and luckily we got "THAT TALK", but this was a different kind of "THAT TALK". It was as if, maybe we weren't criminals for not looking lively during worship, maybe just maybe, we could make church fun! (Gasp)

Joe who was making "THAT TALK" started by answering a question from the prophecy for the youth given to us by Joe's dad Steve, which was that of storming the altars (this had us baffled, you as well? Don't worry). It simply means sometimes you simply have to go and look spiritually for God by really getting into the worship. Joe demonstrated this by hiding £1 coins around the room and making us look for them. He then said that if we couldn't get into worship then we should take steps to make it interesting, for example learn instruments.

The main point I got was church can be FUN!

Once in a while you'll meet someone who really has an impact on your life, maybe the kind that will change your life forever. Joe and Dani's visit has had such an impact on me. I only met them for a short while, informally, at Pastor Colin's house, then at their generous offer of lunch together. I knew there was something really different and precious about them, and I quickly felt a deep spiritual bond with them both. What set them both apart was their love and experience of God, which has caused me to hunger deeply for more of what they have.

I've been greatly honoured to experience the miraculous in my own life. I lived and worked in Cairo, Egypt for a year and a half, during which time I saw the Lord move through me when ministering to others in terms of notable healings, demonic deliverance and people being filled with the Holy Spirit and with 'holy laughter'. Worship is the key to entering into a deeper, more powerful anointing, as we 'Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise'. (Psalm 100:4). Joe and Dani are flowing powerfully in this truth, and what they shared stirred me, and caused me to hunger for more of the Lord.

We related our testimonies over lunch, and what they had to say amazed me. God is moving in a new way in the earth today, and is breaking into the physical realm in ways that are truly astounding. I've heard reports of similar miracles before in various parts of the world, but to hear of them first hand is truly awe inspiring. How could I not be greatly impacted by their first hand experience of the Lord producing gold dust and nuggets out of thin air upon people? Gold, which when analysed by professional scientists, was found to be gold unlike anything found on earth, 'living gold', from heaven! How could I not be stirred by reports of children receiving handfuls of anointing oil that dripped from their palms? Or astonished at people receiving Manna; heavenly bread upon their Bibles, which tasted of honey one day, the next of fresh wafers, because it too is 'living'. Or of growing limbs, dramatic healings, or gold teeth, or signs and wonders in the sky, or miraculous financial provision?

Such wonders are truly wonderful, but primarily I have been deeply stirred to hunger for the Wonderful Lord Jesus Christ, who is truly wonderful, powerful, active and alive today. It is He who wants to break through into our lives to stir us from our complacency to live a life which is holy, pleasing to Him, and results in others coming to know Him too. I've begun to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting to see more of God's power and anointing in my own life, as well as here at Kings in Tavistock, and to be able to move in, and minister to others, a powerful anointing that is followed by notable signs and wonders. My own heart's desire is to be able to take such blessings back to Egypt and see Him move there in ways I've only ever dreamt about. Thank you Lord for sending Joe and Dani, but thank You more for what You are about to pour out upon Your Church!

Gavin
