THANK YOU WESTBURY!
Article written by Derek Perry 21/9/01
A few weeks ago I traveled up to Westbury in Wiltshire, along with
Geoff Jackman, to collect what promised to be a big consignment
of computer equipment. It was another early morning start (about
8:00 a.m.); after checking over the car and trailer, we had a quick
look at the map to see where we were headed, and off we went!
We
arrived at the council offices just after lunch, to discover that
we would have to carry everything down seven flights of stairs (better
than up seven flights though). The staff were brilliant; as you
can see from the pictures, they all gave up their time to help out,
and for this both Geoff and I would like to say a huge thank you.
Not only was it a long way down those flights of stairs, it was
also very very hot.
We have been blessed many times by the way God answers prayer,
and this is just another example. One of the pieces of equipment
which we have been desperately short of for our computers going
out to Africa and other places around the world, were PC modems
and good quality lap tops. Well because of the generosity of Mr.
Graham Ash and his staff, we now have nearly 100 external PC modems
and 10 lap tops. We also received some printers and pentium base
units which will go towards helping us in our ongoing projects of
supplying computer equipment wherever it is needed.
Both
car and trailer loaded to capacity, it was time to say good-bye
and head for home. Slight problem to start with, we had had to park
the car outside the front of the council building, which happened
to be on a very steep slope !! So pulling away in the car was not
an easy task. But once we got on the flat and the car warmed up,
we made it home in a good time - about 6:30 p.m. - considering the
weight load; time to unload the trailer before putting up our feet
for a well-earned cup of coffee.
Thank you again Westbury!
