Try the King's tabletop

visited yet, now
may be the time to
give it a go, say
Sam & Jo Wright
How rewarding it is to give your spare time to serve God? For a while now, Sam and I have been running the tabletop sale every Friday night (6.30-8.00), come rain or shine here at Kings and what a great time we have. We sell second-hand books, bric-a-brac and clothing at very cheap prices to help us raise money for nurses' wages in a hospital in Africa, that the King's church helped to set up.
We have made so many wonderful friends and serve coffee, tea and biscuits throughout the evening. Many of us just sit around and chat, listen to music or share our experiences of life. We have met many different people over the time, both Christians and non-Christians, and all have said that they think the tabletop sale is a great way of meeting new people, whilst helping people less fortunate than themselves. Thank you so much to our regular customers who buy each week and keep us going, it's so appreciated and of course we love to see you!
So we would really like to say a huge thank you to our friends who regularly donate goods, especially Victoria Book Shop in Bere Alston and to Josh, Helena and Nathan from our youth group, who often lend a hand serving coffee. Also, many thanks to the dozens of pairs of willing hands who set up and pack away each week. Being part of a church family means that young and old all chip in together in unity because we all believe we are called to work as a co-operative body, serving God. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. After all, it is He who gives us such privileged and rich lives here in Tavistock!
In the run up to Christmas we'll be offering some unusual gift ideas and hope to introduce soup suppers, during the cold winter evenings. So come along if you want to pick up a bargain or just relax with a cuppa. We've seen it grow so much and now have a regular group of people who want to do something charitable and have fun at the same time. If you have items to donate please bring them along any Friday night from 6 o'clock or ring us at Kings on 610570 (leave a message if no-one's there and we'll get back to you) and we may be able to arrange to pick up.
Many thanks again for your company and kindness.
Sam and Jo
