Clinics
Although Pastor Colin made efforts to see every work was controlled
and in the hands of the local people they insisted on calling
the centre after his name. This was such an honour and greatly
appreciated…….but don’t do it again!
The
Community Church at Tavistock have worked tirelessly and at
great sacrifice to express their love for the people of Africa.
They have sent out three containers of supplies, set up three
clinics, helped establish schools and technical centres to
teach adults computer skills and encouraged Christians and
churches in their travels around Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya,
Tanzania and now, Uganda. All this has been sacrificially
paid for by the church which has only 12 that earn wages.
The church has also exported medical and educational supplies
to many countries around the world.
Just a corner
of the customs shed at Kampala showing some of the medical supplies
donated from England. An amazing array from a full-size x-ray
machine to boxes of bandages and wound dressings was ready for
inspection. (An American doctor, viewing these supplies, said
"You have more than $1m of supplies here!")
We
must thank Mrs Allen Kagina, Commissioner of Customs, U.R.A.
for the way she helped the supplies get through and for her
excellent advice. We were so grateful for the many Government
officials that went out of their way to help us through the
difficult paths of beaurocracy. Good and experienced staff,
both for administration and medical work, are always a vital
part of the project. We are always searching for them!
