Report on Rwanda Visit: 5th - 24th November 2008

Dear Prayer Partners,

Thank you so much for your prayer support. We had probably the best mission yet in Kigali, Rwanda and saw the Lord fulfil all our hopes and your prayers for the church there, which is a model church for the whole nation. This church started two years ago with three people and now numbers one hundred who are mostly young people who have been recently saved and who have become the church. The joy is that there are equally numbered members from both Tutsi and Hutu tribes and that the love of God is cementing them to become a real Christian community. Each week up to a dozen visitors come and find new life in the message of Jesus, but also a different kind of church from the traditional denominations, where the freedom and love of Jesus are manifested.

Of course a church born needs to grow and be fed on the "milk of the word", differences and difficulties need to be resolved and above all there needs to be an ongoing powerful encounter with the risen Jesus to whom we all belong.

Here is a summary of the main things God has done through your faithfulness in prayer and giving into this Kingdom work. May God richly bless and reward you for your sacrifice.

· A scriptural foundation to the Christian life was laid covering 7 of the most vital areas for the Christian life: Altogether there were two dozen sessions of teaching and preaching; all interactive with practical follow through. There was a real anointing and an open door for revelation of the Word of God: Understanding the shepherdly love of Jesus, His servant heart unto death, Living by Faith, Asking and receiving in Prayer, The Person, Work and Fullness of the Holy Spirit, The church as a body, The Role of the Bible, Money and tithing.

· I worked with a youth group and children's group - the prayers and heart of the children were particularly moving in their desire for the Lord Jesus.

· There was a powerful manifestation of the Holy Spirit, bringing repentance, filling, bringing gifts such as tongues, prophecies and visions to the people and release of faith and joy.

· 7 radio messages (of 45 minutes) were given on consecutive days, bringing the gospel and the touch of Jesus to many in the region: phone-ins verifying that the word of God had touched many.

· 13 people were baptised in water in the lake at Gahini, this includes two people who were watching the baptisms, brought under conviction of sin were saved and baptised there and then!

· The heart and unity of the leadership group under Sadiki's fathering has been strengthened. This is paving the way for younger Sons of the faith to grow in responsibility.

· The fruit of tithing and giving. Sadiki 's support from the church has now increased 10-fold. One man, Richard, who had nowhere to live, no job or money gave the shirt off his back to God in the offering. The church, though poor themselves responded by returning the shirt to him, different people pledged up to 6 new shirts for him and 4 pairs of trousers, someone offered to give him and his brother free accommodation until they find a home, one person pledged to give him a significant part of her wages on a monthly basis and a sizable love offering was taken for him - proving God's words in Malachi that I will open up the provision of heaven so that you will not be able to contain it all!

· A spirit of repentance and forgiveness came over many: sin confessed and forgiven and relationships restored at every level.

· A lunchtime outreach into the city of Kigali with the gospel touching pastors and a large crowd.

· The sessions provided part 1 of a two-part training course. 18 people who completed this first part of the course have been given certificates of attendance and 20 bibles have been distributed. They will now follow through the teachings in practical steps before the second part of the course is tackled leading to a Diploma in the Foundations of Christian Teaching once there is evidence that they have worked through the teachings with God's help to become part of their lives.

I thank God for the strength, health and finances, which made this very busy 19-day trip go so well. God bless you, as you are the body of people who is reaching out in your love to Rwanda. It is only because of your faithfulness that I have been able to go there on God's behalf and yours. May the Lord reward you richly!

"For everyone who asks receive, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:8)
