HELP....
is
there anybody out there?
remember the time when I lay on my bed one evening and called
out those words - a kind of prayer, I suppose but more in
desperation than real expectation of an answer. I had been facing
a number of ordeals during my student life days and had just become
so weary and felt alone in the battles of life. Was there anyone
who cared or would help?
Well
someone did hear my cry and he’s listening out for yours too -
it was Jesus. Not the Jesus of religion or stained glass windows
in churches but the Jesus who by his spirit is as real as you
or I and is just a moment away. This Jesus came into my life and
give me a fresh start. That was 30 years ago now, he is still
there and he is still in the same business , watching out for
you!
So
how is it for you, really? How do you cope with 21st
century trials: have you been hit with trying to cope with difficult
relationships, worrying health issues, alcohol or drug addictions,
debt, despair or just plain loneliness in a hostile world . Do
you find that we all look okay on the surface, but deep inside
so many people are hurting - maybe you are one of them…

you like a fresh start, would you like to find someone who can
lift these burdens off your shoulders and give you new meaning
, new relationships and a new hope for the future? Too good to
be true……? Jesus says : "Whoever calls on me I will never
turn away." Jesus is not a liar, he is there waiting
for you right now if you are ready to try him.
Well,
it all sounds too simple, you say, you don’t understand what I
have to face each day or how bad I am! I wouldn’t know where to
begin…
Now
let’s come to the point….It is just because of this that throughout
the country a course called the ALPHA Course is now running. You
may have seen adverts on hoardings, on the tv or in the street.
ALPHA is here too in Tavistock. What is it? It is a ten-week series
where small groups of people get together once a week over something
to eat, and look at what Jesus and Christianity is really all
about - not religion, but a relationship. ALPHA helps people to
discover for themselves the Jesus who is the answer and the new
hope he offers. Many people who done the ALPHA course have become
long-term friends as they experience new hope and the very life
changing presence of Jesus for themselves.

greatest news is : No-one is too bad to qualify! In fact the worse
you are the better, really. Jesus didn’t come for good people
but for those who are hurting, desperate or just bad so that he
can turn our lives around.
So
perhaps it is time for you to explore ALPHA too. Think about it
and why not join one in January. Many ALPHA groups have already
been running in Tavistock over recent years and we are providing
one especially for you in the New Year. If inside you are looking
for answers ALPHA will introduce you to the Answer and I promise
you will never look back.
