Hope
realised!
A
tribute celebrating the life of Ruby Davey, by Tavistock Community
Church
true matriarch was Ruby, loved and cherished by all the extensive
family. Joy and myself and our girls have known Ruby
and her late husband Cyril for 45 years. They have stood out in
our memory as a couple - not wealthy, nor powerful in politics
or in church, but so loved by their family, church and by all
of us who came into contact with them. They were the best example
of modern Patriarch and Matriarch to be seen.
Ruby
has realised her great hope to be with her Lord Jesus,
Who surely has told her, "Well done, good and faithful servant,
enter into the joy of your Lord!"
She
will be missed so much at the Community Church where she has been
a true mother to us all. The King’s News will miss her dreadfully.
She was the most constant contributer with her regular stories
of fascinating insights into life. Only a few days ago a lady
stopped me in the supermarket saying, "Pastor Bond, that
article by Ruby changed my life at a difficult time!" A host
of blessed people have enjoyed her hospitality and home, and some
helped into a better way of living. And yet, after many years
they still find a sense of deep loss in their lives. But dear
Ruby has found a new wholeness, a new peace, a new joy in the
presence of her Lord Jesus.

To
quote Ruby’s words from King’s News 25, "I pray that we will
have our eyes and hearts open to the message of the cross and
see Jesus as the conquering Hero, offering forgiveness and everlasting
life." As she points the finger at you, she wants you to
turn from the frustrations and ambitions of this life to receive
Jesus as Lord of your life and discover the exciting hope found
in relating to Jesus as Lord and walking through life with Him.

uby
was a very old friend of mine - I’d known her for well over 30 years.
She and her husband (who died several years ago) allowed me
to live in their household at a time when I had nowhere else to
live. They accepted me when I must have seemed strange to them,
with the way I used to dress. They gave me advice on a range of
subjects; sometimes I took it, other times I didn’t. They didn’t
mind, or get upset; they kept giving their advice when asked for
it. This lady has prayed for me and been prayed for by me. So really,
we would be seen to be quite close.
But
do you know, when I heard of her death I was not upset. I was
really rather glad for her. She is reunited with her beloved husband,
she is face to face with Jesus who she loved, she is in a far
better state than she could ever hope for here on earth. She is
in Heaven, a jewel in God’s crown. No more pain, no more sorrow,
no more uncertainty. Now she knows as she is known, sees Jesus
as He is, she couldn’t be in a better place. Bye Ruby, see you
later, love Chris xx
