My trip
to Africa
n
the 30th of June I went to Fort Portal, west Uganda. It was amazing.
I've never been before so I was entering a whole new world;
it was new territory for all of us. The reason we went was to
teach in schools. I teamed up with my cousin Hannah, my sister
(Emily) teamed up with a uni friend (Lisa) and Jo (a friend) teamed
up with her school friend Liz. Hannah and I were teaching basic
maths games (to make things a bit more interesting) and Art. It
was so much fun doing this as the children were getting very much
into it! They loved it; every time we went into a classroom they
stood up and clapped. We all felt very welcome over there.
What I couldn't
get over was the fact that everyone was so happy over there. Here
in England we have all we need but yet we want more. In Africa
they most have next to nothing but yet they are so happy! There
were big smiles all round! It really touched me. We went to a
total of 3 schools. The first school was Njara Hill Primary School.
We were there for a total of 4 days. And it was hardest to leave
this school as we had gotten to know the students. We also visited
2 little village schools. But only for a half day as they were
so far away!

he churches
over there were very lively! I can't explain how much everyone
liked going to church! It was weird there because everyone
is so open to his or her beliefs. Whether they are Christian or
not. The church service was very different to over here. For a
start they don't usually have a sermon. They just sing and dance!
It's so loud! Even though they don't have much P.A just the odd
microphone!
I met so
many nice people, I got to know the people that work with my granddad
(Colin Bond) really well and I miss them so much! All the little
chats I would have with them in the few times I got to sit in
the hot sun! So overall I loved it so much and I would definitely
go again and I say if anyone gets the chance to go…Take It!
