Margaret's Story

Bishop Margaret of Jesus Is Alive Ministries

It was such a pleasure to be taken to a comfortable home of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s home after a time of traveling rough, and real joy for Evie to see her old friend again and for Colin to meet her for the first time.

In 1990 Margaret founded the Jesus Is Alive Ministries now based in downtown Nairobi.

Her rapidly growing church has a membership of 22,000 and branches in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, UK and USA. She told us that she is the first lady to be ordained as Bishop in Kenya but it had been a rough road to get there.

A single mother at 16 with all the challenges that followed, she turned to witchcraft as a means of providing for her family. When she came to a 7 day ultimatum to sell her soul to satan something stopped her, fear gripped her, and she began to visit Gospel crusades.

The day came when she gave her life to Jesus instead. Everything changed. She had a supernatural experience with the Lord when He commissioned her to His work.

We visited her all night prayer meeting, even 3,000 were still fervent in prayer after midnight. Today 23 services a week start with morning glory at 6 a.m., a lunch service, miracle and teaching services in the evenings.

Her television programs expand around the world, media ministries are available, life is full and busy yet she found time to pray for Tavistock.
