is one of those wonderful times of the year that is full of promise.
Well may the poet have written, "Oh to be in England now
that April's there!" Longer daylight hours bring new hope
and vigour. Spring flowers, lambs and sprouting trees give us
a new surge of energy, so the seed packets get inspected,
the caravan gets a spring clean and oil up ready for action, and
we feel ready for anything! From all of us at the desk of 'King's
News' and from all of us at 'The King's' we wish you an Easter
full of promise and hope that gets fulfilled. May this Easter
herald a year of blessing and a time of revelation and hope that
makes the future exciting for you.
Perhaps you're thinking that this is a strange
introduction after the front cover of 'FIERY ORDEALS'! Age brings
the advantages of wisdom so, as we reflect on our past, we see
that the ordeals and pressures of life opened the way into new
blessings, better relationships and a wisdom that cannot be taught.
An old farmer, now promoted to a higher calling, once said to
me when I was a lad, "Colin, if the good Lord said to me,
'Owen Tucker, you can have your life over again but you must choose
your joys or your sorrows' - I would choose my sorrows because
they made a man of me!" Our experiences in Central Africa
after their terrible wars and genocide have revealed orphans chatting
and laughing and old folk resting with a tranquil attitude and
the churches dancing and rejoicing in the new relationship they
have found with the risen Christ. Jesus is alive to them and brings
hope in the midst of destitution. However there are many that
still live in misery. Their thoughts still dwell on wrongs and
revenge.

stories in this issue tell of how ordeals opened into precious
experiences and new wisdom. Dealing with the trials and tribulations
of being on your own in a distant country; dealing with dramatic
changes in the family setup; dealing with the loss of a dearly-loved
one. We all face such issues at some time in our lives. One theme
in these stories is the constant presence of a loving Father God
in the midst of struggles and adversity. God never promises that
we won't go through suffering, but He does promise to be there
in the midst of it, strengthening and comforting and preparing
us for the future He has for us.
Jesus Christ holds the future but we choose our
destiny! May God bless you that this Easter will open up a destiny
of joy and fulfilment in a service to the King of kings.
